The Story
The founding members of the Secret Seven are Aaron Hope
and Matthew Richmond. In the begining Aaron was looking
for some people to start a band with. Matthew had just
broken up with his previous band, Andrew was playing
with a band called Stereosonic, and Tim's status was
currently single. Aaron is a frequent songwriter, so he
asked Matt to help him record some of his songs with him
. Then Aaron and Matt dug deep into their minds and came
up with two songs (one which is still played by the
Secret Seven). They then decided to record these songs
on 4 track, but they needed a bass. Their mutual friend
Andrew (who was in Stereosonic at the time) said that he
'd be glad to record with Aaron and Matt. So the three
of them recorded "I always knew" on Craig Coles' four
track. At this time the boys decided to make it an
official band. Craig played drums for the band until
the summer, when he went away to work. During that time
the boys got their friend Tim Oakely to play for them
until Craig Coles came home from working. But the bond
between the band was too strong, so Tim remained the permanent drummer for the band. The band needed a name so they decided to call themselves "The Flair." However, it took them another name change from "The Flair", "The Cassettes", and finally to the "Secret Seven" until the all the band members were happy with their name."
Around March of 1998, Matt Richmond left Secret Seven and the band continued on as a three-piece. Today, they are still going strong, with a powerful punch of fast, amazing rock/pop songs beneath their belts! Although the band has nothing recorded as of yet, they have a lot of live cassettes recorded at several recent shows by a few people. They are currently recording an EP tentativly titled "Well Done Secret Seven!". Look for it out and about soon! Also, check them out live if they're around you! They are without a doubt one of the best bands going today!
Well Done, Secret Seven! (coming soon!)
